Lifestyle Photography for Luxury Hotels
What is Lifestyle Photography?
It is a style of portrait/people photography, which aims to capture and document real-life events, situations, or milestones in an artistic manner and the art of the everyday. The art of Lifestyle photography is to manipulate a scene into a still image without making it obvious that the photograph has been controlled but rather look like it was a real event photographed really well. It has to look natural. Depending on what the purpose of the image is the look and feel of it will change accordingly.
This post explains the workflow of image intended for a luxury hotel, promoting their engagement and wedding facilities. It is first of all important to remember that these are not wedding photography images but the main purpose is to show of the facility and location with the two models acting as couples merely telling a story.
A story telling image engages us by connecting with our hearts, emotions and minds. It creates a perception of a certain lifestyle or moment which is desirable to the viewer.
In the case of this example the story told should be inviting enough for the viewer to would want the same experience for their wedding day or for the moment the big question is being asked.
There is a lot of fantasy attached to a topic such as getting proposed to or getting married. People are keen to believe what they want to experience and all you need to do is create a platform with enough emotion for them to use their own imagination and build their own imaginary dream event.
Whether you creating a lifestyle image for a wedding purpose like these images or whether it is for the purpose of consumable goods, it really is painting the ideal lifestyle.
The Hotel facilities being the main attraction, it’s of course important to show the environment, location and interior surroundings of where the story is being told. Again the image has to seem natural so making the surroundings to obvious veering away from the massage that needs to be portrayed. Blending the whole scene together into what will be a visually stimulating image.
The models acting out the role needs to understand their role clearly. In this case it is easy to confuse wedding photography with lifestyle photography. Should the models act too intimately attracting to much attention to them as a couple in love it will look like wedding photographs done for a couple and the wrong message will be given across.
Light is the secret ingredient to creating the right mood. Again in this example the mood has to fit in with the luxury offered by the hotel. Connecting with the right emotions by creating romance, mystique and a couple completely satisfied.
